Pricing and licensing, answered

Why do I need to register for Community?

Registration gives you a free licence key for updates and security patches, and lets us tell you about critical fixes. It is free and the key does not expire.

Does Community phone home?

Only to check for updates. The check sends your licence key and the version you are running, nothing about your estate, and you can switch it off. There is no usage telemetry, and the application keeps running if it cannot reach us.

What happens if I exceed my limits?

Monitoring never stops and no data is touched. A limit of ten or more allows 10% over, so 250 assets can reach 275. Past that, adding another is refused and administrators see a notice, while everything already there keeps working. Smaller limits, such as the single site and five users in Community, have no headroom.

What counts towards the limits?

Assets are what the product's licence page calls devices in service: decommissioned devices and anything in the Trash do not count, and neither do patch panels or other passive items. Every site counts, whether or not it is monitored. Users are enabled sign-in accounts, so disabled accounts and API tokens do not count.

Can I downgrade?

Yes. Your data is kept, and the features of the higher edition are locked until you upgrade again. That includes single sign-on: when a paid licence lapses there are 14 days of grace, after which sign-in through LDAP, OIDC or SAML is refused and local accounts keep working. If you remove the key yourself, or a trial ends, the change is immediate.

Is there a trial?

Yes: 30 days of Enterprise. Sign up for Community, install it, then start the trial from the licence page inside the product. Most trials start straight away. A second trial for the same organisation, or one requested from a free email address, waits for our approval.

Can I run it air-gapped?

Yes. Any registered key can download and install from the signed offline bundle. Enterprise adds the air-gapped licence, which needs no check-in and is activated with a signed file on each server, and the point-in-time recovery commands.
